NEW GLASGOW POLICE HAVE A COUGAR ON THEIR SIDE
Monday 4th March 2013 New Glasgow is the first Nova Scotia town to own a Cougar. New Glasgow Regional Police Service commissioner Jack Lewis and Minister of National Defence Peter MacKay unveiled the armoured vehicle yesterday. The vehicle will be used by the Police Department's emergency response team (ERT) to better protect the public and ensure officer safety in dangerous situations. The department applied a year ago for one of the Cougar vehicles, which was no longer being used by the Department of National Defence. The vehicle, which was used in the Balkans and Somalia, comes from DND with no cost from the government, according to MacKay.
