The Weeks Jr A Crushers have a pair of key games coming up this week in the MHL. On Thursday, the Crushers will host the Truro Bearcats. The Cats come into the game 4 points ahead of the Crushers in the race for fourth in the Eastlink South Division, but Pictou County does hold two games in hand. Then on Saturday, the Crushers will have another home game against the Edmundston Blizzard, the top team in the MHL. Both games are at 7pm at the Wellness Centre.
The Pictou County Aecon Atlantic Scotians return to action this week after the Christmas break with a pair of games. On Friday, the Scotians will be in Port Hawkesbury to face the Strait Pirates. Then on Sunday at 7pm at the Trenton Arena, the Scotians will host the Brookfield Elks. The Scotians enter the stretch run of the regular season 4 points back of the Kameron Jr Miners for top spot in the Sid Rowe Division.
After winning the Championship in their division at the Mike Scmitt Tournament in Truro, the Peewee AA Crushers improve to 22-4-2 for the season. The Crushers next see action when they resume Mainland League play against the Truro Bearcats on January 6th at the Rath Eastlink Center.
Pictou County Athletics is reminding people that it's back for another year of fun. Their trailblazers program begins this Friday, with registration at 4 pm.... and their first practice takes place at the Stellarton Indoor Soccer Facility beginning at 5 pm. Trailblazers is aimed at ages 9 to 12. Their Masters Program (ages 35 and up ) registration and practices are at the same time as the Trailblazers ( this Friday at 4pm to register at the Indoor Soccer Facility) Their 13 + Program begins today Wednesday, January 3 at the YMCA with registration at 7pm and the first practice from 7:40 to 9:30 this evening. (Wednesday)
