CIVIX TO TEACH YOUTH THE IMPORTANCE OF VOTING
Tuesday 29th September 2015
Students at 64-hundred schools across the country will be voting the week before the federal election on October 19th, and the group organizing it says the results usually mirror the results of the actual election. CIVIX is a non-partisan charity that aims to educate young people how and why they should vote. Project manager Emily Barrette says the idea is if you vote when you are younger, you are more likely to vote when you are of legal age. The results of the vote in the schools are sent back to CIVIX, and are announced after the polls close.
