There is a situation on Facebook needs to be cleared up. Hector Broadcasting and staff are being unjustly maligned with emails and Facebook messages.

The whole story...... Below is the Facebook post from our announcer regarding the contest on 30 July. There is also a link to the audio from the broadcast (we are required by the CRTC to have an audio logger 24-7). The unhappy contestants Facebook message below that.

I am posting this because I send an email to Ann and the staff at ECFM and did not get any response of any kind.Dear ECFM Staff: I was walking through the Glasgow Square Grounds this afternoon when a few of your team were there setting up. A young female On-Air host announced that she would give weekend Jubilee passes and a VIP backstage pass to meet Honeymoon Suite to.the first person who came to her trailed.. I walked over to her trailer. I was the only one to walk over to her trailer. She looked at me for a minute and announced "Oh, I can't make it that easy. The first person to come to me with a piece of porcelain will win." It was embarrassing. I clearly wasn't who she had in.mind to win. At this time a girl came running up showing her a Asian writing tattooed on her leg. She was given the prize. I was very disappointed; not only because I didn't get the pass but also at this DJ's lack.of professionalism. I was humiliated. She made it very obvious that I wasn't the person she wanted to win this prize. I thought it was an important message to send along to you. I am not sure what an Asian tattoo has to do with porcelain, but I do have feelings. Your DJ had no regard for mine. Sincerely, Name Withheld by ECFM

Clearly this was a misunderstanding by our listener and we have withheld the persons name as we do not want any negativity going back. It's unfortunate that this become trial by Facebook - the "haters" took no time in maligning Hector Broadcasting and staff without knowing the actual facts or even considering there are two sides to every story. We are in no way trying to hurt anyone but clearly we did nothing wrong. Unfortunately the message sent via email or our website was not received. The Vice-President of Hector Broadcasting was notified of this concern on Facebook 10:30pm Friday evening. Obviously at that hour of the day nothing could be done. Saturday afternoon 2 all access VIP passes (for the rest of the weekend) & $50 cash was delivered to in person with our apologies and we sincerely hope they and everyone has a safe enjoyable time at the Jubilee.

Hector Broadcasting has been serving this community for more than 60 years and we care about our community, our listeners and do our best to do so with respect and dignity. We too have feelings and being a family business - we take things personally. This post will be on Facebook and our website for a few days - and then it will be deleted. Let's all move on.

Sincerely, Michael Freeman VP/GM
