River John Volunteer Fire Department Annual Chicken BBQ will be held August 19th from noon until sold out. $12 for 1/2 Chicken or $9 for 1/4 chicken.

Embracing the World 2018, a short retreat providing uplifting messages to live life by, will take place August 18th from 2-5pm at Northumberland Regional High School. Everyone welcome. Free admission. Light meal provided. Hosted by Amma Nova Scotia.

Trenton park will host their 3rd annual Touch-A-Truck event August 18th from 11-2pm. Free admission. Sensory sensitive hour from 1-2pm. Tickets will be sold on a Fisher-Price Power Wheels Ford F150. Trenton Funfest presents, Princess and Pirate Picnic in Trenton Park, August 19th, from 1-3pm. This is a free event. Go dressed as a pirate or princess, get a free makeover for face-paint and an eye-patch or crown.

Earth ARC will host a BBQ fundraiser August 18th at Sobeys at the Aberdeen Mall, New Glasgow, between 11 am and 4 pm.

Chase The Ace will be held at the Pictou Legion, Branch 16, on August 17 ticket sales from 7:30-9:30pm for a jackpot of $21,298.00 with 22 cards remaining. Entertainment from 8:30-10:30pm with Jarrod Poirier.

September 18th Team Douthright from Pictou County Lightning Bantam girls will hold a fundraising bottle drive to help with team expenses. The girls will be collecting bottles in your neighborhood on Saturday or you have the option to drop them off Friday or Saturday at Stewart's Bottle Exchange, just say donation for bottle drive. Bottles can also be dropped off between 9am-3pm at Armour Transport 2517 Westville Road, New Glasgow.

Due to the rainy forecast for Saturday, the Pictou Motorcycle Show will now be held on Sunday.
